Higley High Alumni

First came Seminary Graduation. It was held on Sunday May 17th. Our ward had 8 graduates, the most in the stake. Our ward is finally growing up. Brad received the Stake Presidents Honor Award for all 4 years. He was one of 6 out of the whole stake who received it(three from our ward). When he received it as a freshman, there was only one young man who had earned it all four years and he leaned over and said, "I'm going to do that!" that has been a goal all along and I'm proud of him for doing it. They have to memorize all 25 scripture mastery scriptures and pass them off, each years, have 5 periods of 30 consecutive days of Scripture study and personal prayers (if that makes sense) Anyway, he was really excited to be able to receive the award. He had all of the seminary teachers and learned alot from them all.

such a ham!

Next came High school graduation

Shannon helped me decorate with signs and such.

before graduation....they were expecting over 4000 people as there were about 486 graduates. thus, we went early to get a decent seat so here we are
waiting....for graduation still waiting for it to start.....
is it time yet?
When they started playing pomp and circumstance as they started marching in, it kindof took my breath away realizing I had a graduate. I have to admit, a little tear came to my eye for just a second but was quickly replaced with great excitement!

ohhhhh! here he comes!!!!!
such a handsome boy!
The weather cooperated nicely! Whew! We were expecting really hot weather and then a few days before the forecast changed to chance of rain and lower temperatures.... the sky's were overcast and there was a nice breeze blowing, sometimes the breeze was too hard as they had to lay some of the decorative flags down. But it made it nice and cool. It did however rain after they started awarding the diplomas and continued for about 10 minutes. There were about 3 minutes where it was raining a bit hard but it tapered off. He was one of the last called because they started from A and Z and worked their way to the middle of the alphabet, therefore K being in the middle, well, yes, back row and almost last. oh well, adds to the memories!!

Right after he received his diploma!
The first High school graduate from our family....
and also the one who will be last.....
Brad and his good friend Jeff

Another good friend Brady

There are really too many pictures to post. but all in all, it was GREAT! We are all so proud of him! His medal is for graduating with a "scholastic diploma" and the silver cord represents "with honors" sometimes I wonder how he did it cause he really didn't do a whole lot of homework, especially the last two years! Imagine what he could have done had he worked hard at it!
Good Job Brad! Onward and upward!!!

8th Grade Graduate

The Graduate
Coronado Elementary 8th Grade Graduation
Michelle or"Shelly" as her friends call her graduated on Tuesday. She was thrilled to finally be done. although I know she is going to miss all her friends, good thing there is high school!! Sister Taylor, (oops, Mrs Taylor) our neighbor down the street was the teacher speaker and she did a fabulous job. We went to look for a dress for her, after trying on about 25 or so, we got the first one she tried on. We found it at savers a thrift store and it was only $14.99. We added the straps and the little red flowers on the top. She was thrilled with it and it looked darling on her.
Our bargain "savers" dress!

Getting the diploma

Almost the shortest in the whole class
ok,....these guys are tall but...
Hunter Hon and Logan Whetton are good buddies of hers and they just had to take a pic.

Couldn't be happier!! It's done!
Sorry to tell you Shell, you still have 4 more years to go....
then there's college..hmmmm
We are so proud of you and know you will finish the next four years strong!! We love you!

Kindergarten Graduate

The "sassy" Graduate!

Mrs "T" our hero!

Mrs "T" (Tripathi) has been Jenna's kindergarten teacher for the past two years. She has been great! She was always willing to learn more about Jenna's Sensory needs and such making it a better learning environment for her. We will truly miss her! Jenna excelled this year, I am so glad we held her back, school will be a much more enjoyable thing for her now. She is an excellent reader and is growing by leaps and bounds!
"Miss Katie" and Jenna

Miss Katie came to Jenna's graduation. She helps Jenna at LIFE where she goes to therapy. Jenna just loves her and she is really helping her learn to be more patient and deal with things better. We love Miss Katie!!

Good job Jenna!! you are doing amazing! We are so proud of all you are learning and overcoming! We love you!

Senior Prom

Brad had a fantastic time at prom. He took one of his good friends Jackie Hardy. Their group had 8 couplesso it was a big fun group. Their "Day date" took them to the lake boating. They had 2 boats so everyone got some skiing time. They all had a great time and came home sore but not burned (they were thinking ahead to the pictures)
The "fun" boat!

Regan Riggs and Jackie Hardy

Brad right before he left to pick up his date.

Gotta have shades! It's the cool factor.

This is the back yard where they ate dinner. They had a nice steak dinner, took pictures and then on to the dance.

When we get more pics, I'll post them. I can't wait to see them.

Baskeball

Basketball is over for another year. Michelle really enjoyed playing on the Coronado Elm. team. She is hoping to play next year in High school. Their team did pretty good. It always seems they are just starting to work together as a team and then the season is over. She was point guard on her team. sorry for the picture, none of the ones I took really turned out, too blurry.

Crazy Hair Day

A couple of weeks ago it was crazy hair day at school. Here is what the girls came up with!

Here we have Jenna with her lovely tresses pulled into several pony tails and made into messy buns. She graciously removed her had so we could get the full effect.
Next comes the ravishingly beautiful Rachel with a flower topping her beautiful doo. and a ribbon hanging off the side?

Michelle is sporting a rats nest atop of her head.

They are way braver than I, you go girls!!
