Green Machine
Spencer and I have been going on walks each morning for exercise. Jenna likes to join us on Saturdays. She rides her bike as we walk. Well, we came upon a yard sale and saw this cool "Green Machine". We knew she would LOVE love LOVE it! so we went over and asked how much. Only 5 bucks!! She was sooooooo excited. I told her she would absolutely have to share with anyone who wanted to have turn or we would get rid of it right away. The front tire is a regular bike tire and it needed the tube replaced but that was an easy fix. She couldn't wait to give it a try but did manage to get her chores done for the day.
The New WFHS JV Basket Ball Player!
Anyone Bored?
I guess this is what you do when you're bored and don't have anything to do. I found these on the camera and I thought they were pretty funny!
She must wonder what she looks like when she is asleep?
Silly Girl!
Again?!!!
Trip to the Fire Station
Jenna, Jenna, Jenna!!!!!! I have never known someone who can wrap someone around her finger so quickly and manage to get what she wants. We have a fire fighter in our ward Bro Gale and Jenna begged him to let her go to the fire station to see the trucks (this was at church last Sunday). He is a fire chief and doesn't work at any of the ones around here but he asked her when she wanted to go and she said tomorrow! He called up one of his buddies who works at the station right near our home and arranged for him to give us a tour. So that's what we did for our FHE activity!
Does she look happy or what? She is in Hog Heaven! I think Rachel had fun too.
Michelle went with us also and found out that Mike (the fire fighter)
is the husband to one of her school teachers.
True to her form, she had Mike wrapped around her finger quite quickly. He was great with her joking around with her and such. He kept calling her "Genevive" which she thought was hillarious. She wanted to climb up this ladder "to see what was up there" being the nice guy he is he let her but followed her up to make sure she was safe!
Brad's Eagle
Just wanted to post a couple of pictures from Brad's Eagle Court of Honor. The photographer didn't get into a good position to take pics so we don't have any that are great. (We won't mention that her initials are SK) (grumble, grumble) anyway, enjoy.
This is just a small table display. Jenna took this pic. I loved these pictures of when he was just starting scouts. The one on the top is when he was a new scout. Bottom left, first pine wood derby and the bottom right, one of the first scout activities here in Coronado ward. Shooting rockets at Bishop Layton's dad's place.
Bro Plowman giving them the "Eagle Charge"
Pinning his mentor pin on Bishop Layton. Brad really loves this man! We do to. He has been Brads leader since he was an 11 year old scout. (I think)
Will you go?
Shannon is going with a group of girls (ok, if he says yes...) to Higley's winter formal.
She asked Austin Rollins (I think that's right) anyway, now she is on pins and needles waiting for a reply.........

New Elder
Wow! I can't believe Brad is old enough to be an Elder!
He was ordained yesterday November 1, 2009.
This makes it more real. In a matter of months, Brad will be off on his mission. He has been going to mission prep class since he graduated and just soaks in the information. Several of his friends have their calls and some have even left already. It can't come soon enough for him. I am so honored to be his mother.
Love you Brad!!
Our Star Dorothy!
Before the performance. She was a little bit nervous and so she asked if we could say a prayer.....aw.....so we did. (Later that night when she was saying her prayers, being so convinced that prayer works, asked that Heavenly Father make her flowers stay alive for ever and ever and ever......continued for about 30 times.....needless to say, I had to explain that isn't something Heavenly Father will do.) ah, the faith of a child....
Here she is in the first part. She was a little shy at first but warmed up. All of the kids in this play have some kind of disability. It was amazing to watch them get so outside of their comfort zone and do this. Holly was amazing with them and it was a great experience for all of them.

These are the munchkins. Notice their costumes, yes....I made them. I cut the vest out and Trindle sewed them together. The hats are great dollar store finds! The apron has flowers cut out of circles in the matching material for the vests. Whew that took alot of time but they turned out really cute!

A "new to us" waterslide!!
Some neighbors down the street were cleaning up and were getting rid of a water slide that the motor didn't work anymore. So, Jenna being the scrounger that she is, asked if she could have it. Spencer rolled his eyes and said, "ok, we'll try" After much begging he finally took the motor apart and did some oiling and such and wa...la! it worked!
The girls have always wanted a water slide.......

"Wow! that's tall!"
I guess wishing really does work!

First one down!!

She's legal, going solo!!
Yesterday we tried to get Shannon's license but the DMV system was down state wide. She was NOT happy! she thought she was going to DIE to have to wait ANOTHER 24 hours! She was so upset, I wouldn't let her drive home, I didn't want to get in an accident.....ok, I was teaching her a lesson that we need to control our emotions and if they are too intense we really shouldn't drive. anyway. I picked her up after school today and we went straight to DMV. She was very nervous but did a great job and passed with flying colors. I almost didn't let her drive home because she was so EXCITED and couldn't calm down! Silly girl!
Spencer just sent her on her first SOLO errand to JC Penny. She is a bit nervous but I'm sure she will do fine.
Bye Bye Shan!!
She just called to tell me she got there safely.....whew! Wow, it's so weird how fast they are growing up...sniff sniff....ha ha just kidding!! yippee!! It is so exciting to see them pass major milestones.
Primary Idol update
It is going FANTASTIC!!! Better than I could have hoped! The kids are SOOOOOO into it! The judges are great! The Singing Squirts are even coordinating their outfits (thanks to their amazing teachers) by adding accessories that make them uniform. Orange construction paper ties for the guys and orange paper corsages for the girls. The following week they all had missionary name tags. All of the classes are really stepping up and it has been a blast! I'll keep you updated!
New Life
Lots of new plants poking their heads above the ground!! Spencer LOVES going out each day to check on them all. It makes me laugh because I have to twist his arm to get them all planted but he gets such a kick out of watching them grow and stuff!
We planted a whole box of green beans cause we all love them so much! hopefully these will grow into produce. Our last try failed miserably! Not one green bean, not one!
So we didn't do so great the first go round so we decided to try try again!! We planted many "new" things this time and are excited to see how they do. The little plants are very thankful for the shade that Spencer has made for them.
The countdown is OVER!
She is FINALLY 16!
Rachel got up early and started decorating. This is what she did first.
While they were at the "morning side"
Jenna and I went and got 16 balloons and tied them to the banister.
Here she is with her cake.....
(I know, not a fabulous super man cake or anything like that) thank goodness they grow out of that and just care about the taste of the cake!
She went to a morning side a the church and thanks to Michelle, who told Presidents Riggs (who has quite a sense of humor)He made Shannon stand up (she was in the youth choir on the stand) and announced that it was her 16th birthday today. (it was a multi stake fireside) anyway, the speaker Brad Wilcox from BYU was talking about dating and things pertaining to it so he asked Shannon to come up to the stand by him and then he had Brandon Halls (who had sung a solo in the choir) come up and he had Brandon demonstrate how to ask a girl out on a date. He told Shannon that all she had to do was day four words..."yes! I'd love to!" so he asked her and she said those four words. They are going on a date this Saturday. They were assigned to take President Riggs cookies as part of their date to prove they actually went on one. Needless to say she was embarrassed but inside she was thrilled and loving the whole thing.

We had her birthday dinner and cake when they got home and opened presents and then later in the evening she had a few friends come over and play games and such. I think she had a fun day.
We tried to get her license yesterday but the state dmv system was down state wide so we will try again today. She wasn't too thrilled to start driving Brad's "yuck mobile" as his friends affectionately call it but she soon realized it was WAY better than NOTHING!! She is doing great driving a stick shift. I think humility is KEY in raising teenagers!!
Eagle????
(what can I say it was HUGE on him when we bought it!)
Brad had his Eagle board of review this past Thursday and he PASSED!!!!! He did it! 2 years past his project and such but it is done! We have to wait for the official certificate to come in the mail and then have the Eagle court of honor. I think he is really glad that he finished it up. It will mean alot to him later on in life.
He went....SKYYYYYY Diving!
One of Brad's buddies got a big group together to go sky diving. It is something I have always wanted to do but been a bit too chicken to do it. I really thought it was all a bunch of talk since he hates repelling but true to his word, he went. He said...
"it was ....awesome....amazing.....words can't describe it......ahhhhhhh......I'm going again when I get back from my mission!"
I text ed him when I though he was done but he was on the way up in the airplane due to a delay. He said that going up was the worst part, the anticipation. He had nothing but good to say so all you who want to give it a try, we'll plan on July of 2012!! we can all go together!

"Primary Idol"
I tried to think of a fun way to 'review' the primary songs this year for senior primary and after looking over the ideas posted here and there, I came up with one of my own,....I know that's pretty unusual for me. Brad downloaded the theme music for me and I had Marilyn Traub paint my signs (she is amazing isn't she?!) We didn't get to do anything but take their pictures this week as we ran out of time but I am excited for next week. Each class will sing a song and our wonderful judges, will critic them and we will have a winner each week. I think the kids will have alot of fun with this and it will be a fun way to review till our program in November. so, I'll keep you posted! Junior is playing Base ball and I will post pics next week of them.
Our judges, "Simon, Paula and Randy"
Each class came up with their own name and here they are.....
