Black eye bart....

Jenna got a black eye Sunday (yes Easter after church) She was running up the stairs after Rachel and she slipped and fell down and bumped her eye against the railing. It was instantly swollen and getting blue. She wasn't very happy with Rachel for a while.
This is her eye Tuesday morning. She looks like she has eyeshadow on.

One of the teachers at school told her she needed a better story, like....I was holding down a bank robber and he hit me in the eye....he he he...

Easter 2009

Color Time

Still coloring.....patience

She loved doing this, a whole dozen all to herself!!

We did things a bit different this year for Easter. I decided that we needed to focus more on our Savior and less on the bunny so we decided to have the bunny come on Friday night so they could search for their baskets on Saturday instead of Sunday.

The finished product!

The kids were out of school on Friday so we colored the eggs that day and then they were ready for the bunny guy to hide. Shannon was babysitting but didn't really want to color any eggs anyway so that's why she isn't in the pics. It worked out SOOOO much better to do those things on Saturday. I heard today in institute that another family does it on Monday so that they can score on the half price Easter candy. ....not a bad idea. Anyway, so Sunday we could focus on Our Savior. Michelle gave a talk on how music can bring us closer to the Savior. It was her first talk in sacrament meeting and she did great!!

My Cute kids in their new Easter outfits.

Just the Girls

Brad the ham!

No we didn't eat HIM for dinner :)

Actually, he got some new dress pants but wanted to wear his suit for Easter Sunday so I'll have to post a picture of his new pants later.

The "MAN-Date"

The HE-MEN showing some muscle

The pucker lip pout

(they wondered why girls always do this in photos)

taking pictures of themselves

Brad and some of his friends decided to have a "man" date last Friday night. They made breakfast and ate a TON of food. The funny thing was they wanted to have it be just the guys but girls kept texting or calling them. They ended up joining a date that was already in progress that 3 guys bailed out on and they needed 3 more boys. They went because they said they would never hear the end of it from the girls at school on Monday if they didn't go.

It looks like they had alot of fun!

10 Years old!!

Cute 10 year old

I am so glad that she is still alive and here to celebrate this day. Who would have thought she might not have been? It has been a long road on the recovery and we still aren't there yet. She is still having pain in her right leg and it is swollen still. They have done an ultra sound and also a CT scan, both showing that things are clear. There is some narrowing at the repair site but the blood clot is gone now. She has to stay on cumiden for another 6 weeks at least. It is a wait and recover and see plan right now. She takes tylenol every day for the pain so we want to get to the bottom of the problem. We feel very blessed that she is still here with us. We got her Wii fit for her present (more than we usually spend) but the whole fam can use it too. And her cool big brother got her Wii High School Musical Sing game. Both have been on practically non stop since Friday except for when Conference was on. It has been alot of fun!!

Here's to many more years!! Happy Birthday Rach!!

We love you!!!!

Rachel's Cake

Minnie Mouse

So another tradition we have had forever is the birthday cake. We have a couple of cake books they search thru and they get to choose what kind of cake they want. Brad, Shan and Michelle have pretty much outgrown this tradition, they just pick "deep dark chocolate cake" in a 9x13 pan. But the little girls still like to choose. So this is Rachel's pick for this year. It turned out a little goofy looking, especially when you compare what it was really suposto look like. I decided to do the front facing since the side facing Minnie looked funny. Anyway, I think the EYES are the thing that make it look silly. Anyway, Rachel liked it. So if you look below you will see what it was REALLY suposto look like. Oh well !:)

Jenna is already planning for her birthday. She has chosen a cowboys and Indians cake with a TP, or a race car, or a farm cake......why doesn't that surprise me?

Going to Prom

She said YES!

Brad asked Jackie Hardy to senior prom last week. He sent her on a treasure hunt, even making her dive into her pool for a clue and toilet papering her room at the end. She replied this week on Wednesday while he was gone goofing off because there wasn't much school due to AIMS testing.

Quite the clean up!

It looked like it snowed in his room.

Here is Jenna being silly as usual! :)

Rachel's Birthday Date

Rachel chose to go to the play Sleeping Beauty for her "Birthday Date". We started this tradition about 3 years ago. We found that our kids really didn't NEED anything and had too many presents so we changed the way we did birthdays. They received one present from Mom and Dad (around $20.00) and then got to go on a date with us. They pick the place to go and then afterwards we go shopping to spend their Grandma money and we kicked in about $20.00 more. Each set of grandparents usually sends them $10.00 so they end up with a nice gift that will last a while. They can also choose to use the "one gift money amount" to add to the other. I think she got a little spoiled this year because we are so relieved that she is HERE to celebrate her 10th birthday!

Rachel wearing the sunglasses they gave her at the play because it was her birthday. Everyone sang happy birthday to her and the other kids who were celebrating their birthday there.

The play was fun despite the fact that she fell UP the stairs and was a bit embarrassed. We went to Hometown buffet. (YULK! they really don't even compare to Chuck-a-rama) This was the weekend before her birthday since her birthday usually falls on general conference weekend. She got to get her picture with Sleeping Beauty but didn't want to have anyone autograph her program. We had a fun time. The birthday dates are as fun for Spencer and I as it is for the kids because we get some good one on one time with each of them.
