Rachel chose to go to the play Sleeping Beauty for her "Birthday Date". We started this tradition about 3 years ago. We found that our kids really didn't NEED anything and had too many presents so we changed the way we did birthdays. They received one present from Mom and Dad (around $20.00) and then got to go on a date with us. They pick the place to go and then afterwards we go shopping to spend their Grandma money and we kicked in about $20.00 more. Each set of grandparents usually sends them $10.00 so they end up with a nice gift that will last a while. They can also choose to use the "one gift money amount" to add to the other. I think she got a little spoiled this year because we are so relieved that she is HERE to celebrate her 10th birthday!
Rachel wearing the sunglasses they gave her at the play because it was her birthday. Everyone sang happy birthday to her and the other kids who were celebrating their birthday there.
The play was fun despite the fact that she fell UP the stairs and was a bit embarrassed. We went to Hometown buffet. (YULK! they really don't even compare to Chuck-a-rama) This was the weekend before her birthday since her birthday usually falls on general conference weekend.
She got to get her picture with Sleeping Beauty but didn't want to have anyone autograph her program. We had a fun time. The birthday dates are as fun for Spencer and I as it is for the kids because we get some good one on one time with each of them.

You are such a nice mom -- I have gotten so bad.... "Here's and itunes card, and a pack of gum"... I can't believe that she is 10 years old.
