Church ball.....Young Men...INTENSE!

Brad is in the middle right under the basket. (white shirt)
That is his shot going in.

So Brad couldn't sleep the night before the game because he was sooooo excited to play basketball. He kept waking up every hour (just like Christmas). They played Maplewood ward's teachers team. Brad was sure they would just walk away with a win. Some of the guys were telling him that the teachers could really play. Well for the first half we stayed ahead by several points. Then by half we were only up by 1.
Will it go in?.........YES! 2 points by B-rad!!
The second half we got behind by 11 but rallied in the last few minutes to get ahead by 1 again. but with about 13 seconds to go we fouled and it happened to be their 6th foul so they got to shoot. Luckily they didn't make it. We got the ball back but lost it due to a bad pass they shot but didn't score and we got the ball again and squeeked out the win! WHEW! We only had one guy to rotate in too so our guys were extreemly tired!!
I thought it was neat that Bishop had to stop by after a meeting and watch his boys play. He helped coach them too. These guys are so lucky to have such a great man care about and love them so much!

Young Women Volleyball

Check out that serve!!

The girls just finished Young Women Volleyball. They made it to the championship round but didn't win. It was a little crushing to some of them...and to my tired Shannon, it even made her cry (now she is extremely embarrassed that she cried! she blames it on not getting enough sleep that week) They were very good sports and they gave everyone a chance to play which made all the girls feel needed. ready....ready...ready

Why am still up at 10:30 p.m.?

I am making my first attempt at canning chicken. I had to wait till after FHE to start so I got started a bit late. This is the newest addition to our family. So far it hasn't been too hard. Thanks to Cherai and her great canning knowledge. So glad I have good friends to help me out! The guy at the meat counter thought I was a bit crazy wanting 40 pounds of chicken and the two ladies who were standing there were quite surprised also. Oh well, we will endure the funny looks and such to have meat in out tummies later on! (and at such a good price too!!)

Knee Pain...Ouch

Shannon has had pain in her knee off and on for about 2 years now and so we have finally gotten to the bottom of the pain. These are Shannon's words.... on tuesday i stood up in seminary and my knee totally cracked and it kept hurting and hurting and by the time i got home it was totally swollen! i was so upset cuz i couldnt walk and i had a volleyball game that night! so i didnt get to play and im a very competitive person and being the captain and not being able to do anything was such a bummer o well we won!!! but then on wednesday i still walked around wit a swollen knee and that was not a very smart choice cuz when i got home it was even worse so on Thurs i was put on crutches to keep the weight off my knee it helped but i hate those things!! it hurts im still sore from them... getting to seminary was a nightmare it never seemed so far away but luckily an old friend that kinda hasnt been nice to me helped me out and ill tell ya i have never been more appreciative! i was on them on friday as well and it was assembly schedule and so we had shorter classes and so i wasnt even gonna go to seminary cuz i would get there and be there for 5 minutes and have to come back but i went to seminary and im glad i did the lesson was amazing! i LOVE seminary and i wish i would have payed attention last yr!!! but on saturday i went to the mall with my close friend ritz from junior high and then she went and helped me babysit. on sunday i decided to go without the crutches cuz you dont rele walk around at church that much and it was okay i managed. then on monday i went to some sports medicine doctor. he was lds his name was doctor peterson! he was so awesome!!! and finally they finally have a diagnosis and know how to help me!! my diagnosis is PFPS its stands for Patello femoral pain syndrome. so idk how to explain it but ill try to explain lol okayy so in my right knee there are two muscles above it and the one on the left is underdeveloped and is smaller than the one on the right and so it pushes my knee cap and causes pressure on it and so my knee cap is not on right its to the side its wierd and its really painful but its common in active girls ages 13-17 and im right in the middle. to get rid of this i have to go to physical therapy 2-3 times a week for 4 weeks to strengthen the weaker muscle so the two are the same so it takes pressure off my knee and my knee cap will go back in place and not move! i actually like physical therapy yesterday was my first day it was kinda painful but i thot you know wut this is gonna get rid of my pain so im all for it!!! Hairspray Girl Photo

Ok, so here is a picture of Jenna's hair blown out with the blowdryer and she thinks she looks like the girl on "hairspary" silly girl! she sure keeps us laughing!!

Christmas 2008

We had a great Christmas this year. It started with the traditional PJs on Christmas Eve. They all put their jammies on and then we go in the car and look at Christmas lights.
Sometimes, it is a bit hard to figure out what to get when you have teenagers and little ones, but Santa came thru this year and everyone was happy! He brought us a Wii and the kids ALL loved it! but the even funner (is that even a word?) was going to Utah the day after Christmas to see our family! We had grandma and Grandpa playing bowling on the Wii with us. We had a great time visiting, sledding, (even though Joe broke his wrist on "Pitts" hill ) not the one in the picture below. This was just outside Uncle Michael's house, waiting to go to Pitts hill. Spencer also made a great sledding hill at Grandma's with the snow that had been shoveled off the driveway. Even the big boys had fun with it. eating, partying and visiting. What a great family we have. The kids were in hog heaven being around their cousins and grandparents for a whole week, even if the temperature was only on average 14 degrees! It did warm way up to 30 one day and the kids thought they didn't need their jackets because it was too hot! CRAZY!

Brad and Spencer went to Orem so Brad could meet Emily's sisters. Spencer went to the temple and visited with Rod and Anne and Brad and his cousin Keith had a fun time with Emily, Paul and Emily's sisters. They even got to build a snowman!! We had a great time.. now back to reality.
