AHHHHHHHHHH watch out!

First time behind the wheel!!

Shannon got her learner's permit yesterday. Yes EXACTLY on the day she could get it! She has been counting down for the past year! I had to go the the Fablehaven thing to help out and she was VERY put out that we couldn't go first thing. She was planning on driving home from the DMV (mind you she has never driven a car in her entire life). When we were pulling in, I told her, "we can go driving after school and practice"
Shannon: What? I can't drive home?!
Me: I don't think you will be ready for that yet.
Shannon: Well, this is just a big waste of time!
Me: well, we can just go back to school and do this Saturday.
Shannon: No no no, ok, but can I drive home from track practice?
Me: um, no, you need to practice first.
So we go in and she takes the test and passes!!! Brad had to retake the test once so she was very proud of herself for beating him. She looks at her picture and says "wow, this is actually a pretty cute picture!" Please! she is so funny! So later after school I take her to a remote neighborhood that only has a few homes built in it and we trade places and she gets behind the wheel and starts freaking out before she has even buckled her seat belt. She is so scared and I told her, "and you think you were fine to drive home from the DMV? anyway, she did really good and thought she could drive home. I said, "I'll drive into our neighborhood and park at the school and then you can drive the rest of the way home. So we switch places and she gets ready to pull out of the parking lot. There is a car down the street about 500 feet and she is too nervous to pull out and waits for it to pass. Then we pass like 2 cars on our way home and she says..."ok. ok, here comes a car, I can do this, I can do this...." Needless to say, it was very fun. She was able to laugh at herself too so we made a memory. I think we will be practicing each night for a while.

A very cautious alert driver

Go Shannon!!! I can't believe she is driving. I love the picture-- she looks like a pro already. Good Luck.

Great job. I remember when she drove my truck a few summers back. She did pretty good especially since it's a standard.
